Yeah.
Well all I can do with that statement is post this video and then post this question for everyone. What did you learn from this video about the US pov on the situation? Is this nothing? Can we learn nothing from this video?

Well, we can learn, by looking in the distorting mirrors of propaganda past, something of how propaganda distorts, and perhaps be better at recognizing it today,
ReplyDeleteTwo of the more instructive such films of the WWII era that I know are the Australian "Squander Bug" and Warner Bros. "Private Snafu" series -- you'll recognize Snafu's voice!
History is not my favorite subject, but I actually learn alot by movies about history than I do in my history classes and textbooks. It is easier for me to remember a scene from a movie or even the whole movie than it is for me to remember any events that was described in textbooks and lectures.
ReplyDeleteI also think that propagana is mostly spread through movies and media.I loved the clip you posted on this blog. Did they atcually put this on tv on children channel?
Also talking about propaganda have you ever read the book Aniaml Farm? I read it in high school and at first i was like " Why are we reading a book in which farm animals are talking?" but then my teacher told the class it is all about propaganda. I liked it
DeleteI have read that MANY times and love that book! I am very into the study of dystopian societies and that started after reading books such as Animal Farm, Fahrenheit 451, and The Giver. If you haven't read those books you really should. Also for a good dystopian film check out Equilibrium.
DeleteAnother book I'd recommend here is Mark Carnes's Past Imperfect: History According to the Movies, though it could use a new edition ....
