The other one would be Young Frankenstein, also 'remade' as a Broadway show ... and did you know that, when the stage version of The Producers appeared in Berlin, they replaced the swastikas with pretzels because it's illegal to display swastikas in Germany?
Mel Brooks is well known for his comedy but also for the fact that he is one of few directors and producers to remake his own films. He also reuses many of his joke such as "It's good to be king" in both History of the World Part I (which is amazing) and Robin Hood: Men in Tights (also great.)
The Producers.

ReplyDeleteYes I have heard that before.

But a twist about Young Frankenstein on Broadway, it was a musical! At first it was thought that a musical version of the classic would be a flop, but as seen in The Producers, there are exceptions. I saw the musical in 2009 at PPAC and it was quite amazing. From songs such as "Please Don't Touch Me" (the train scene with Fredrick farewell to his fiancé) to "He Was My Boyfriend!" (Frau Blucher announcing her love for Fredrick's grandfather)
Did you also know that Young Frankenstein was nominated for two Oscars? One for Best Song and Best Adaptation.
